Live-In Partner, Also His Lawyer, Helps Police Nab Notorious Nagpur Gangster

Nagpur: A notorious gangster wanted in multiple criminal cases was arrested in Maharashtra’s Nagpur after his own lawyer—who was also his live-in partner—provided crucial information to the police.

The accused, Raja Ghouse (39), had been evading arrest after his bail plea was rejected in a rape case filed by the same woman. In her complaint, she alleged that Ghouse had sexually assaulted her at gunpoint.

Following the case, Ghouse went into hiding, frequently changing locations to avoid capture.

How Police Tracked Him Down

Acting on confidential inputs, a police team led by Senior Inspector Vinayak Golhe raided a location in the Mhada Quarter area of Chikhli, Nagpur, where Ghouse was finally apprehended on Wednesday.

Officials confirmed that the woman’s cooperation played a key role in identifying his hideout.

Who Is Raja Ghouse?

Raja Ghouse is a history-sheeter with multiple serious criminal cases against him, primarily involving extortion and violent offences.

  • Four major extortion cases are currently active
  • Known for targeting businessmen, contractors, and influential individuals
  • Has a record of firing in public places
  • Previously attacked police teams
  • Continued running an extortion racket even from jail

In a shocking incident, Ghouse had earlier escaped from Lakhnadon Jail in Madhya Pradesh along with his associates by using bedsheets to scale prison walls.

Investigation Underway

Police have taken Ghouse into custody and are currently interrogating him. Authorities say further details about his network and operations are expected to emerge during the investigation.
